Jill Full Time Professional

Most of my life I have been lucky enough to work in a creative capacity, having drawn and painted since I was eleven years old. My love of horses gave me the impetus though I never did learn to ride! To me they are the most glorious, elegant creatures. Having painted many of them for their owners, alongside portraits of people and pets, it has always been a great pleasure for me. In my early twenties I trained as a typographic designer and went on to work in the print industry, drawing designs for children's wear. I also have experience in calligraphy and silkscreen printing among'st others. Later in my career I pursued my first love of painting and trained to restore oil paintings and frames for a local company - another 'string to my bow'. Since then I have been honing my skills as a fine artist painting portraits, with some success, as my work has been selected for galleries and I have also won some prizes. One of the best was having my painting 'Ladies' Day' chosen for the Injured Jockeys Fund calendar. The opening was hosted at The Mall Galleries, London where the twelve winning artists were presented to Princess Anne, The Princess Royal, which was a wonderful day! There have been many people who have influenced my work, from painters in the Art Nouveau period to contemporary artists whose work has inspired and encouraged me.
