Biography
John is a portrait artist from Ayr, Scotland. He lives with his girlfriend, Stephanie, a tank-full of fish, and a dog named Bella! John has been drawing since the day he learned to hold a pencil. At school he was often found doodling when he should have been writing sums in his maths jotter or practising the alphabet. As John grew up, drawing remained a pass-time but that was all it was for a long time. Friends and family would tell him he had a talent and should pursue a career in the subject but he always lacked the confidence to take it any further, fearing he wasn't good enough. It wasn't until John left secondary school that he decided to take a step in that direction. He studied art and graphics at Ayr college between 2001 and 2003. After leaving college he held various jobs to pay the bills while developing his pencil and brush skills at home. John moved to a bigger house in 2010 and the bulk of his time since then has been spent building his studio and taking on commissions to build his portfolio and reputation.
