I painted this portrait of Louise because she has a beautiful face and lovely Pre-Raphaelite hair. It was painted from photographic reference but I decided to paint the dress in a more impressionistic style, using metallic colours to break up the surface area on both the dress and background, allowing the natural canvas to show. The work has been admired by many people but it may have a lot to do with the very attractive model!
