This portrait is a particular favourite of mine. I was asked to paint an elderly Jack Russell for a lady who said that he had lived to a good age but had health problems and she wanted a painting of him, as he was such a lovely dog. He came from an early strain of Jack Russell's who had longer legs than today's model and a wonderful temperament. She had bought the little pup a few weeks earlier from the same breeder and she was a delightful little girl who begged to be painted, so I did!
